Water Treatment

POOWER Model

POOl Water Energy Recovery  Model

There is an increasing demand to provide heated water space for a wide range of activities that require specific water temperatures.

Selecting a heating system that will cater for such differing comfort needs is a complex task. It requires an assessment of the market for your facility and knowledge of the available heating appliances. The appliance should not only meet the immediate needs but also have the flexibility to permit operational changes for the future.

To meet the needs of pool users a single appliance may suffice. Alternatively, to minimise energy costs a more complex application may be appropriate, employing more than one heating appliance (an integrated system).

Whether your house pool is in the mountains or it is a the costs, then temperature, humidity, wind speed are completely different. If your pool is made of marble, or cement, or any other lining, then the heat loss across the pool is different. The POOWER model by HJM group will allow you to design the heating dynamics of the pool, the way you like it. If you want your pool heated in 10 min, 20 min, to 20 or 25oC , if you want minimum fuel cost, or minimum capital investment, POOWER will tailor your heating system to your preference.

POOWER Model is an in-house simulator for design and control of pools Heat exchangers. Heat loss in a pool is driven by two main phenomena:

  1. Heat Transfer
  2. Mass transfer

Heat transfer is the heat loss from the pool by temperature difference. It includes:

  • Heat loss by conduction from the pool walls to the structure surronding the pool (grass, ground )
  • Heat loss by convection is the heat loss due to the cold air blowing on the top surface of the pool.
  • Heat loss by radiation, which is the heat loss from the pool surface to the atmosphere.

Those heat transfer phenomena are functions of many variables:

  • Quality of Water
  • Pool lining material
  • Ground material
  • Ambient Temperature
  • Wind speed
  • And more

Mass transfer, which is the main source of heat loss, is basically the water pool evaporation which draws heat with it from the pool. This mass transfer or evaporation is a function of many variables, including:

  • Ambient temperature
  • Humidity
  • Elevation
  • Water Quality
  • And more

POOWER takes into account all these variables, with projection in ambient conditions, and gives you the best heater choice for your pool. POOWER can also allow you to choose a heater based on the dynamic control behavior of your pool.

For each system, you can tell how long it takes to heat your pool under worst case ambient conditions, or even how much fuel you need to spend for a heating activity.  POOWER can also help optimizing your choice of heating system based on your financial flexibility, capital expenditure, or operating cost.
